Employers are optimistic about the year ahead with four out of ten predicting their organisation will fare better in 2014 than in 2013 and a further two in ten saying they expect things to remain the same this year.
Asked about their hiring intentions, 65% said they planned to take on more permanent employees and a further 27% plan no change.
Looking ahead to the rest of 2014, 38% plan to increase their use of agency workers and 55% will keep using the same numbers as they currently do.
These figures come from the latest JobsOutlook survey of employers from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC). The REC’s JobsOutlook tracking survey reports the responses of 600 employers. Respondents are drawn from across the public, private and non-profit sectors, and from across a range of industries and sizes of organisation.
